Dympna O’Connell, Lecturer BN International; Module Leader - Evidence Based Practice 2

Dympna trained as a General and a Children’s nurse and after qualifying she worked mainly in the paediatric setting. She also worked in the USA for almost three years in General nursing and neonatal ICU.

Once Dympna returned to Ireland she started studying for her Bachelor of Nursing Studies degree which she completed in 1998. She then continued on to pursue a Master’s degree which she completed in 2000. Dympna is the coordinator of the Masters and Post Graduate Diploma in Health Sciences.  Her research area of interest is in relation to the clinical learning environment. She has also been involved in studies related to nurse education provision and psychosocial health. When Dymna is not working she enjoys running and spending time with her young family.
